Our staff includes:

  Alan Miller, President

Mr. Miller has been with Gongwer News Service for more than three decades, joining the company as a reporter after his graduation from Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. Al, who covered the Michigan Legislature for Gongwer from 1972-1992, follows a variety of issues and is also responsible for the company’s main business operations.

  John Lindstrom, Publisher

Mr. Lindstrom has been reporting and leading news coverage for the company for 26 years. Also a journalism graduate from MSU where he worked for the State News, John worked professionally at the Adrian Telegram, Fenton Independent and Crain’s Detroit Business. Along with the other Gongwer staff, Mr. Lindstrom has won several national reporting awards from Capitolbeat, the national organization of state house reporters.

  Zachary Gorchow, Editor

Mr. Gorchow returned to Gongwer News Service in 2009 after serving as a staff writer from 1998-2005. In between, he spent four years at the Detroit Free Press. Prior to first working at Gongwer, he reported for Observer Newspapers in suburban Wayne County. He is an international relations graduate from Michigan State University, where he worked on the school's student newspaper, The State News. In addition to his duties as editor, Mr. Gorchow also leads Gongwer's coverage of the Senate.

  Breanna Camarillo, Staff Writer

Ms. Camarillo, who reports part-time primarily focused on the Department of Human Services, the Department of Corrections and courts, also maintains the committee and agency meeting schedules. She was formerly a reporter for the Saginaw News and covered the Capitol for the Detroit Free Press. Another journalism graduate of Michigan State University, she was also an intern at the Jackson Citizen Patriot and the Capital News Service before joining Gongwer in August 2005.

  Stephanie Cepak, Staff Writer

Ms. Cepak worked as an intern for Gongwer in 2004 and after serving a stint covering local government in Indiana, she returned to Michigan in 2005. She is a journalism graduate of Michigan State University and worked for The State News and Capital News Service while in school. Ms. Cepak leads Gongwer's coverage of the House.

  Christopher Klaver, Staff Writer

Chris, who came to Gongwer in 1992 after a stint with the Grand Traverse Business Journal, is an MSU journalism graduate whose experience includes reporting for the Capital News Service. His reporting is focused on state agencies and he guides information technology for the company.
